xFUME® POWER 250: system solution for welding fume extraction
Air cooled power source with integrated fume extraction – it couldn't be easier!
Health protection at the workplace is also indispensable in welding. The most efficient and reliable method in this regard is extraction at the source – the extraction of the welding fumes directly at their point of origin. In addition to the pure fume extraction system xFUME® ADVANCED, ABICOR BINZEL now offers with the xFUME® POWER 250 a combined system from the xFUME® range, which combines power source and welding fume extraction in one system.
This all-in-one system is compact, space-saving and very easy to handle: instead of a separate extraction unit for extraction at the source installed at the welding station, it is already integrated in the power source. When equipped with a transport roller system, the xFUME® POWER 250 combination unit can be moved easily to different workplaces. Without the transport roller system, it can simply be stored under any workbench.
The welding fume extraction system xFUME® ADVANCED from ABICOR BINZEL – used in combination with an extraction torch such as the xFUME® PRO, the xFUME® COMPACT or also the well-known RAB GRIP and RAB GRIP HE 2 – fulfils the regulations of international occupational health and safety organisations, because as a complete fume extraction system it absorbs welding fumes directly at their source via the extraction nozzle of the torch. It is recommended that companies upgrade their existing stationary system such as room extraction system or hall ventilation with this so-called extraction at the source.

Unique: Fume extraction system & power source combined in one unit
Anyone who requires a reliable welding power source for thin sheet welding and at the same time intends to invest in fume extraction technology will be perfectly equipped with the xFUME® POWER 250 combination system solution. This air cooled power source is designed for welding up to 250 amps with a duty cycle of 30 % and is also equipped with a welding fume extraction system for extraction at the source. As a combination solution in conjunction with a fume extraction torch, the xFUME® POWER is particularly suitable where reliability in welding is important and occupational safety must be guaranteed.
Welding fume extraction becomes an efficient and safe process with this mobile combination system with integrated high-vacuum fume extraction and in conjunction with a fume extraction torch. Depending on the welding position, between 90 % and 98 % of the welding fumes are extracted at a workplace. The filter of the fume extraction module filters out up to 99.95 % of all dusts > 0.1 µm from the harmful fumes.
Advantages of the combination system – power source plus fume extraction unit
Two decisive advantages are provided by the xFUME® POWER 250 combination system:
- Welding is only possible with an active fume extraction system
Welding without fume extraction is not possible, thus the regulations of the employers' liability insurance associations cannot be circumvented. - Fume extraction is only activated when welding is in progress
This enables significant power savings, as the fume extraction system is prevented from running continuously, thus avoiding unnecessary power consumption.
ABICOR BINZEL welding fume extraction torches are used in countless companies worldwide. Please feel free to read the field reports or references, for example:
Meanwhile, a reliable welding fume extraction system is part of the basic equipment in every production. The specifications of international occupational health and safety organisations are strict and many of the previous stationary fume extraction systems can no longer fulfil them. One key point: the harmful fumes produced during MIG welding, MAG welding and TIG welding are usually extracted far above the actual process. Therefore, welding fumes first pass by the welder and can get into the respiratory system. People working nearby are also exposed to the fumes. The advantages of extraction at the source are obvious: the welding fumes are extracted directly at their point of origin. Depending on the welding position, this system can capture 90–98 % of the welding fumes and filter out up to 99.95 % of all dusts > 0.1 µm from the fumes.
Extracting welding fumes by using an extraction torch and an extraction system, or now also a combined system consisting of a power source and a fume extraction device – the so-called extraction at the source – is the most efficient and reliable technology for the extraction of harmful welding fumes.
