Prof. Dr.-Ing. Emil Schubert – the WELDPROF®
Joining technology from A to Z is my fascination. Imparting knowledge and understanding and thus sheer pleasure in doing, my passion. Everyone can achieve things with personal commitment. I am convinced and everyone who gets to know me, works with me and actively engages in communication experiences that.
Communicating at eye level – open, goal-oriented, reliable and with a basic optimism – broadens the perspective, brings projects forward and is simply fun.
In doing so, I see myself as:
Explainer – Expand product, process and application knowledge
Lecturer – Communicate technical facts in an understandable way and discuss in-depth
Mediator – Exchange ideas at specialist level and bring people together
Initiator – Link progress with current status and improve it take a completely new approach.
Vita
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Emil Schubert
Natural science, materials science and technology are my world. Sports as a balance and to clear my head as well as language as a way to global knowledge and exchange is my hobby. »What is something made of? How does it work? For what can you use it? What are the advantages?« are questions that constantly motivate me.
Fields of activity
For me, it goes without saying that I always keep myself up to date with the latest science and technology and develop myself accordingly. This passion motivates me to work actively in a wide variety of specialist bodies and working committees, because this is where I can make a difference – for welding technology and beyond.
As explainer, lecturer, mediator and initiator I mainly work with genuine doers. Managers, technicians, developers, engineers and sales people like to approach me with technical questions, ask me about my opinion on topic XY and exchange ideas with me. Cooperation is always based on reliability, diligence and helpfulness. I like to give, but I also demand.

Explainer
Expand product, process and application knowledge
The functioning of welding products, the complexity of systems and processes, how theory is put into practice – I can explain this with simple words as well as in technical language. I fill gaps in product, process and application knowledge and expand basic knowledge.
Exchange at specialist level
I’m in a regular exchange of ideas with customers, research institutes and application experts. In this regard I go into the depths of a topic, talk about products, materials and processes. Moreover, I bring in my own research results and those of renowned institutes into the context.
Even non-specialists can understand technical issues that way
Why do we need a specific product? Why do we no longer just need components, but systems? How complex is that? What are the time and cost factors? Every decision is preceded by answering many questions. I explain things in simple terms so that non-specialists can also understand the necessary steps.
Lecturer
Communicate and deepen technical facts
Everything is constantly evolving. This also applies to the research, developments and findings in welding technology. It's in my nature to keep myself constantly up to date. I collect this knowledge, process it and pass it on in a wide variety of formats as a lecturer. My credo: Everyone should be able to understand why something works and how.
Lectures, readings, expert articles
Invitations to specialist lectures in companies, at trade fairs, congresses, conferences or regular lectures at the university are my platforms to transfer and deepen technical issues in an understandable way. Another part of this is publications in professional journals, where I can pass on my expert knowledge of products, processes and applications to interested parties.
Valuable partnerships
Where do ABICOR BINZEL products rank compared to what is currently being developed in research? What are interesting developments of the competition? What's new on the international market? This view is also worthwhile – for both sides. Some valuable partnerships and cooperations have already emerged from this.
Mediator
The exchange on rational level and at eye level
The individuality of people, specific markets and different requirements – these and other factors offer a lot of potential for misunderstandings and conflicts. As the technical managing director of IBG Industrie-Beteiligungs-Gesellschaft mbH & Co. KG and ABICOR BINZEL, it goes without saying for me to be a neutral, internationally active intermediary.
From the emotional level to the rational level
Every cooperation, every new strategy means change. Mutually. It is a personal concern of mine that partnerships are based on mutual understanding right from the start. Because there is always a »human touch« when we come together, I bring topics from the emotional level to the rational level. It is said that I have a great strength in getting everyone around the same table so that all can »row« in the same direction and have the same level of knowledge.
Transforming concerns into clarity
If a strategic approach, basic testing or product development raises questions, I listen to the concerns and start a conversation. Every side and every opinion has its value. I always listen to both perspectives with the aim of finding common ground and making the right decision.
Initiator
Initiating, adapting and aligning topics
What are the driving powers of a company? What makes us more attractive as an employer for our employees? How can win-win processes be established and expanded? Answers to these and similar questions accompany me in my daily work. In this way several projects have been implemented by me or through my supporting initiative, during the years of my work at ABICOR BINZEL and some of them I still support. Many of these have now become a valuable standard for our employees, our customers and, of course, the end users in welding technology.
