Fume extraction for automatic welding system: xFUME® AUT
Reliable welding fume extraction for partial automation
With the automation of processes now also health protection for workers
You know this from the fully automated process: The welding robot is automatically loaded and delivers the finished welded component or passes it on to the next process step. Automatic welding, on the other hand, is one of the partially automated processes in series production, where humans take over the assembly of the automatic welding system. And this is precisely where the danger to the worker's health arises.
Fumes are inhaled by workers and depending on their composition and exposure levels, serious illnesses can result. OSHA requires compliance with specific guidelines to protect employees from dangerous fumes.
With the xFUME® AUT automatic fume extraction torch, you can now easily bring health protection into the partial automation and series manufacturing of your production. Regardless of whether a gas or liquid cooled extraction torch is required for the corresponding application.
As successor and technical further development of the AUT-RAB series known from ABICOR BINZEL, it offers the following advantages:
- Excellent welding fume extraction efficiency due to optimum positioning in the automatic welding system
- Optimized laminar flow and thus higher fume extraction efficiency and better torch cooling
- Robust construction with screwed connections and support geometries on the inside
- Common pipe section diameter (37 mm), designed for almost all clamping devices used in partial automation
- Suitable for welding tractor applications as well as for use on welding cobots
- Can be connected to all standard MIG/MAG power sources
Well thought-out: wear parts from xFUME® PRO extraction torch line
The fewer specific wear parts are required for new torch lines, the better it is for your stock-keeping and the associated costs. We also thought of this in the wear parts concept for the xFUME® AUT – and designed it in such a way that the contact tip, gas nozzle, contact tip holder and extraction nozzle are the same as for the familiar xFUME® PRO extraction torch.
If you already use a gas-cooled xFUME® PRO 36 or the liquid-cooled xFUME® PRO 501 for manual welding and also want to convert your automatic torches to extraction at the source, you can use the well-known long-life wear parts that you have in stock anyway.
The compact design of the xFUME® AUT automatic fume extraction torch makes it very versatile.
The ideal team player for extraction systems for extraction at the source
The xFUME® AUT forms a coherent, reliable team together with the following fume extraction systems from ABICOR BINZEL:
- xFUME® ADVANCED
Welding fume extraction unit for a single extraction torch - xFUME® PRIME
Welding fume extraction unit for up to 4 extraction torches
DIN EN ISO 21904 Conformity
With all products of the xFUME® extraction technology series you are on the safe side, because they have been developed in accordance with all specifications of ISO 21904 regarding health protection during welding. The xFUME® fume extraction torches absorb more than 90 % of the welding fumes through extraction at the source. 99.76 % of these absorbed dusts >0.1 µm - the so-called degree of separation - are collected in the filter system of an xFUME® extraction system.
Areas of application
The xFUME® AUT is the ideal fume extraction torch for simple partly automated processes in series production when you need to weld high quantities of one type of component.
The typical fields of application for the xFUME® AUT are:
- welding pipes
- welding beams
- welding plates
Automatic torches are mainly used wherever pipes are welded that transport liquid or gaseous media. Examples of this are:
- food industry
- plant engineering
- leisure industry
- shipbuilding
If you are faced with the problem of having to equip your partially automated welding stations with fume extraction technology, the xFUME® AUT automatic welding fume extraction torch is the ideal solution in terms of the torch. And with the xFUME® ADVANCED, you also have the right extraction system for an automatic torch.
Why extraction at the source with the automatic torch?
Welding fumes are dangerous. Fortunately, more and more responsible people are addressing the protection of their welding specialists from the harmful fumes. But people also work in automated or partially automated areas.
Of course, you have enclosed your automatic torches in accordance with the safety regulations and use a low-vacuum system to extract the fumes from the welding workplaces. Nevertheless, the fine dust particles of the welding fumes are released into the environment before they can be absorbed by the extraction system. This poses an acute health hazard for the worker who, for example, is responsible for loading the positioners, welding gantries or automatic welding systems. The same applies to the welding specialist when operating and monitoring a welding tractor.
A hall extraction system, which is usually mounted on the ceiling, only insufficiently protects all other people working in the vicinity. Anyone who is permanently exposed to fumes for an entire shift is inevitably stressed. And can fall seriously ill.
Many national authorities responsible for health protection therefore explicitly recommend extraction at the source.
Do you weld plates, beams and pipes in simple automation processes in series and have automatic torches in use? Then you should equip these workstations with automatic fume extraction torches such as those of the xFUME® line.
