Intermediate cable for long distances to the workplace
BIKOX® intermediate cable – the ideal extension for air cooled cable assemblies
Shipbuilding, the construction of offshore plants as well as construction sites are just a few examples where the distance between the power source or welding device and the welding workplace with the wire feed unit can be several metres. Especially when welding inside confined spaces, as is common in shipyards, the welding equipment has to be positioned outside. In such situations, distances from the welding device to the place of use of the welding torch can sometimes be 20, 30 or even 50 metres. This requires a reliable and, if possible, weight-reduced extension of the cable assembly. The BIKOX® intermediate cable from ABICOR BINZEL is such an optimal cable assembly extension especially for welding work on shipyards and in production halls for the construction of offshore plants or on construction sites.
Besides robustness, the weight of cable assemblies plays an important role. For example, in shipyards a cable assembly has to be moved over long distances, pulled around corners and over edges, and pulled over scaffolding. Every kilogram less means relief for people and material. The BIKOX® intermediate cable from ABICOR BINZEL has light-metal components integrated into the cable assembly which, together with the well-known BIKOX® material, reduce the weight by up to 40 % compared to conventional cable assemblies.
This results in the following weights of the BIKOX® intermediate cable for different lengths:
- 25 m = 19 kg
- 30 m = 22 kg
- 50 m = 35 kg
If the cable assembly has to be transported, the help of colleagues or the use of a forklift truck is no longer necessary with the BIKOX® intermediate cable from ABICOR BINZEL.
Advantage: Integrated strain relief
Everyone knows it: If you want to get closer to the welding joint, you pull on the cable assembly instead of pulling on the wire feed unit itself. To prevent the cable assembly from being damaged at the connection points, the BIKOX® intermediate cable has an integrated strain relief on each side. If the wire feed unit is moved int the heat of the moment by pulling on the cable, nothing can be torn off.
Even the most robust cable assembly will show signs of damage at some point. A high-quality repair kit is available to reassemble the cable after cutting out the damaged area. A clear instruction manual enclosed with the repair kit helps with the individual steps and thus enables a repair on site without having to send in the cable assembly.
The repair kit is designed to ensure that the repaired area of the cable assembly is absolutely waterproof again. And let's get back to the next welding job.
- Robust, reliable and lightweight intermediate cable for welding work to bridge long distances
- Particularly heat-resistant and abrasion-proof
- Up to 40 % lighter than comparable cable assemblies on the market
- Integrated strain relief to prevent cables and connectors from being torn off
- Optional repair kit for quick and reliable repair on site (waterproof)
