Anti-spatter paste Düsofix
Spatter formation is common practice in MIG welding and MAG welding. Only in an optimally adjusted automated process is it possible to avoid the formation of weld spatter in the first place as far as possible. In manual welding, the correct preparation of the torch and the workpiece can reduce the adhesion of weld spatter to a minimum. The anti-spatter paste Düsofix from ABICOR BINZEL is a welding release agent especially for gas nozzles, contact tips and gas diffusors. Due to its simple application, reliability and practical packaging, it is ideally suited for use in tough everyday welding.
The Düsofix anti-spatter paste in its stable can can be placed in every welding booth as well as in the production hall or even inside large components on the floor, in a stable place within easy reach of the welder. In short: it can take a lot.
Why anti-spatter paste Düsofix?
With gas-shielded metal arc welding, weld spatter inevitably occurs. This can result when igniting the arc, in the event of short circuits or even when metal droplets from the wire do not hit the weld pool or splash out of the weld pool again. These can spread in all directions. Welding particles not only get on the workpiece and the clamping elements – if they are in use – but also on the front end of the torch itself. Gas nozzle, contact tip and gas diffusor are wear parts that are closest to the process and are therefore directly exposed to the hot particles.
Residues on gas nozzle & co.
A gas nozzle already has a very smooth surface, but this alone does not prevent weld spatter from burning into the gas nozzle and the other wear parts inside it and disrupting the gas flow. An anti-spatter agent especially for gas nozzles & co. largely counteracts the sticking of weld spatter. Without the use of an anti-spatter agent, weld spatter sticks and disrupts the laminar shielding gas flow. As a result, the arc is not adequately protected from ambient air due to insufficient gas flow, which can lead to pore inclusions. This means reworking the weld seam or even scrap if reworking is not possible.
If welding particles settle directly on the front of the contact tip and thus build up a spatter bridge to the inside of the gas nozzle, this can lead to an undesirable current transfer from the gas nozzle to the workpiece. Splashes at the tip of the gas nozzle can also significantly disrupt a smooth wire feed. Depending on the extent of the malfunction, this can even lead to so-called wire sticking. In this case, the only solution is interrupting the welding process and replacing the contact tip.
Ideal for the welder’s tough daily routine
The anti-spatter paste Düsofix is filled into a metal can and has a very good stand thanks to its practical shape. It is also securely positioned in tough working conditions and where the work materials are not handled with care. Dents do not affect the can and have no influence on the anti-spatter agent itself.
Another big advantage: Like all ABICOR BINZEL release agents, the Düsofix anti-spatter paste is absolutely silicone-free! If a few drops accidentally get onto the workpiece after the hot torch head is immersed in the paste, the following common process steps such as coating, galvanizing or painting are of course possible.
While this anti-spatter agent is specially designed for the pretreatment of the torch front end, there is also release agent exclusively for the workpiece available. ABICOR BINZEL offers the ABIBLUE NF anti-spatter spray with a blue color indicator. A separating agent for the gas nozzle as well as the workpiece and clamping elements is the Super Pistolenspray NF.
Effect of the welding release agent Düsofix
The anti-spatter agent Düsofix forms a protective layer over the parts of the welding torch that are immersed in the paste. When cold, its consistency is like wax. When the heated front end of the welding torch is immersed, this wax becomes soft and forms a perfectly distributed protective film around the wear parts, which are thus directly protected from excessive spatter adhesion. Of course, particles from the process will still settle over time and the torch has to be immersed again. However, adhering weld spatter can be removed by wiping the gas nozzle. The anti-spatter agent Düsofix extends the service life of the gas nozzle, contact nozzle and gas diffusor considerably.
ABICOR BINZEL anti-spatter paste: areas of application
This pasty weld spatter protection for the gas nozzle is suitable for all welding applications in manual welding. Düsofix scores with its safe handling and robust can, especially where things are a bit rougher and dirtier. It is just as popular at the welding table as it is right next to the welder when welding large components or in tight spaces. The paste itself is absolutely harmless to handle, transport and store. If you forget to close the lid of the metal can at the end of the working day, this also has no effect on the consistency and properties the next morning.
Composition of ABICOR BINZEL anti-spatter paste
Düsofix is a pasty, silicone-free and almost odorless technical vaseline – a so-called petrolatum. Due to its consistency, it cannot leak or splash out should the metal can fall from a welding table to the floor or someone hits against it. After the warm welding torch front end has been dipped into the paste, excess release agent drips off easily.
The ABICOR BINZEL anti-spatter paste forms a protective film that is thick enough to achieve a very good separating effect, but at the same time does not stick too thick, so that a continuous gas flow can be guaranteed throughout.
This anti-spatter paste, which has been tried and tested for decades, is a safe choice for the preparation of the gas nozzle and all wear parts directly exposed to the process. Düsofix is not subject to any special safety regulations – neither for its use, nor for its transport by land and sea nor for storage.
